「最近」の意味を持つ、 recently は、過去形・（現在・過去）完了形に用います。
lately は（現在・過去）完了形でのみ、使用できます。

Both lately and recently can modify a present perfect tense verb phrases.
Only recently can modify a preterite verb phrases.

recently - lately の使い分け

□ lately / recently （現在完了形で）最近
ex) I've been kind of busy lately / recently.
最近少し忙しい

□□ lately: in the recent period of time
□□ ex) He has been feeling better lately / recently.
□□ 彼は最近体調がずっとよい

□ until recently （過去完了で）最近まで
ex) Until recently I'd been using an old computer.
最近まで古いコンピュータを使っていた

□ recently （過去形で）最近 ex) She recently graduated from college.

ex) Until relatively recently, I didn't know who he was.

up to recently: to describe something that was true until a specific point in time but has now changed

nowadays - these days の使い方

nowadays と these days は
現在形の文章に用いることが、基本です

□ these days / nowadays （現在形で）最近、近頃
ex) I'm quite busy these days.
近頃忙しい

□　nowadays　　　最近では
ex) Nowadays, the children are not same again with the children in the past.
最近、子供たちは以前の子供たちと　同じではない
