「Continue / Last - 続く・継続する」 に関する 英単語 & イデオム
last も continue も どちらも 続く、継続するを意味します。
last = continue in time
つまり last は 「一定期間だけ続く」。
ex) The focus point of last is the ending point.
continue は 「ずっと続く」を意味します。
ex) The focus point of continue is the entire time of the action.
いずれ終わる last 、ずっと続いている continue と識別すると、使いやすい思います

continue は 継続の 「最初 (start) から ずっと継続」に焦点を当てています。
「終わり (end) 」は意識していません
last は 継続の 「終わり (end) 」に焦点を当てています。
ex) The good weather will continue for several days. 「続く」を意識。
ex) The good weather will last for several days. 「終わる (end)」を意識
* 上記２文は ほぼ同じ意味です

continue は SV または SVO
SV
□ continue 続く
ex) The show continues until Jan. 10.
cf) "How long does the show last?" "For two hours."
SVO
□ continue ...し続ける
ex) Rain will continue to fall. / Rain will continue falling.
（O は to + 不定詞でも、動名詞 （…ing） でも 両方可。
= Rain will last long.

□ last 終わる = end
ex) How long will the rain last?

= When will the rain end?
□□ last （鮮度、寿命など）もつ
□□ ex) Possibly the battery can last another year.

□ last （品質・状態が）もつ、持ちこたえる
